• Hi Elspeth, Only plain low fat milk is permitted in primary schools. Flavoured milk is permitted when they do not contain added sugar and the crusha product contains sucralose. That's my understanding of why it wouldn't be compliant....but someone might correct me!

• Hi, In Argyll and Bute we have only offered milk and water for the last 10 years. We don't have any issues, and there is a large uptake in water in our primaries, and now also in our secondary schools. We currently have a 10p charge for milk, although this is currently being reviewed. Happy to have a chat if you have any specific questions. Thanks, Christine

• Hi Brid, This is the paragraph from the nutritional analysis manual on the asymmetric week: 6.1 A secondary school analysed lunch must be provided on each day of a normal school week, including in those schools that run an asymmetric week. This will enable all young people to access a nutritionally balanced school lunch on each day of a school week. Some modification may be needed on these early closing days where an alternative provision replaces the regular lunch e.g., a more substantial provision available at morning break or provision of a pre-packaged lunch. This alternative provision must meet food and drink standards and be included in nutritional analysis to meet nutrient standards across the week. It must also be within the 15% daily tolerance for energy. (See Section 7 for further detail) I hope this helps.

• It's milk or water only for primary. I spoke about this at the guidance groups quite a lot because I knew some of our schools serve tea and felt it was something that the pupils need if they've travelled far and are in the school early, but there was no budging on the drinks!

• Hi Denise, If you are putting the veggie wrap on as part of the analysed lunch for secondary, it should contain 80g of veg, plus 80g of another veg/salad as a side or part of the other course of the analysed lunch, as well as 80g of fruit (or 30g dried fruit). If it is for primary, it would be two portions of 40g over the two courses plus 40g fruit (15g dried fruit). Hope this helps!

• We have only been given full FSM numbers, so early years, P1-P3,P4-P7 eligible, secondary eligible and also hostel pupils and discretionary, so we are planning based on these numbers. We are however, still waiting on guidance on what we will be required to do.
